Tell Me Your Secrets
This device used I gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer to approximate the 3-D movements of hand gestures into a virtual environment. The device used Bluetooth to communicate real-time data with a desk top application. Later versions included physical buttons to act as input devices to control the application. The concept behind the device was to allow for more fluid interaction between physical space and virtual space. The alternate form factor resembled a wand or a baton because of the familiar interaction associated with the object.
The functionality of this projects was to integrate air quality sensors into and wireless communication system that was powered by a photo voltaic cell. The mechanical elements both track the light source and correct the orientation of the robot if it is upside down or sideways. The air quality sensors measure values over time to understand how seasonality, time of day, and location affects air quality.
